Hello Friends

Who would be interested in a Timber frame workshop September 1-3?  The cost would be $300 for the 3 days.  We would need to have at least 5 firm commitments to move forward.  The workshop would cover the basics of square rule layout and we would be working on a bent of a 16 by 20 frame.  Jim Rogers will be teaching.

Have questions?  Want to sign up?  Just let me know.

Here are pics from previous workshops I've hosted

I will of course give the forum it's share of any proceeds from the workshop.

I'm looking forward to seeing you again in NE.

I hope you can make it.

I would be interested but I am guessing you are about half way across the country.  Would Omaha be the closest airport?  Any idea about dates.  If I can't make it this time, maybe a future workshop.

tburch

Yes, can you be more specific than SE Nebraska?  Thanks!

The Kansas City Airport is actually a little closer (by about 20 minutes) than Omaha Eppley Airport, I think.

I've been away for a few days - Thanks to those who have jumped in and answered questions.  The workshop would take place in Falls City, Nebraska.  The closest airport is Kansas City.  Falls City has 3 Motel/Hotel options and there is also camping available at Stanton Lake Park with shower facilities.

This workshop would take place September 1,2 and 3.  That's a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Jim Rogers is teaching a week-long Timber Frame class for The University of Kansas the week following and he has other commitments following so Sept 1-3 are what will work.  It looks to be a small group so here is a chance to get a lot of one on one from a great teacher.

We have enough commitments to move ahead with the workshop  8).  If you've been pondering whether to join us there are only a few spots remaining.  Send me a pm and reserve your spot today.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Would a total novice bring the group down?  I'm wanting to learn but I have
zero experience.  Would we need to bring our own tools?

I consider it a "beginner's workshop" so you won't bring anyone down at all. And you should try your best to bring your own tools.

That's great to hear Jim and thanks for making time in your schedule. I am looking forward to learning something at this workshop and meeting others who share an interest in timber framing. Will there be any registration notices sent out or prepay requirement?

Well, we had a great workshop with lots of forestry forum members.

We cut lots of joints and put together one bent for the group picture.

VictorH took the picture I have so he's not in this one.

On left is Paul (FF name Woodsteach), Ron (not FF member, yet) Jim Rogers, Doug (FF name DPatton) Kevin (FF name klpauba) and his son Andrew (not FF member, yet).

Hopefully VictorH will post a picture with him in it.

Thanks to all who came and we did have some fun cutting joints and telling tales and stories.
