It has been a long week.  Last Saturday my wife was hit by a motorcycle and suffered a cracked skull and the brain cavity filled with blood.  Also collapsed lungs and then got pneumonia from the blood in the lungs plus some minor problems.

She has an IV in each hand and each foot and another in her jugular vein in her neck.  The medicine to dissolve the blood clots has to be put thru the jugular vein as it is strong and burns up smaller veins.

The first days were not to hopeful but now she responds but cannot talk as she has an oxygen tube going into her lungs as well as a feeding tube which she got last night and is being fed every hour.  She is heavily sedated and tied down so she doesn't take out any of the tubes, IV´s  and monitors connected to her.

They think that by Monday she well be able to breathe on her own.  All vital signs are normal and we have had no crises for two days.  The doctors now think she will live and be normal.

A busy week.

Wow, Jim, that is a bad week.  Sounds like she's a fighter though.  I'll keep you both in my thoughts.

That's tough, Jim.  I'll be pulling for her till she's up and running. I can hardly wait for her to be able to tell us this story.  You need to get her signed on when she gets out of bed.

I'm concerned for the both of you.

Oh man, that is really scary! I am so glad she is better, and hope for a full recovery. Tell her we are pulling for her up here in Iowa.

Add my prayers and thoughts to the growing list, Jim.  My greatest fears are of something like that happening to the ones I love.  Hang tough, and know that the entire Forestry Forum is behind you. ;)

Jim-

As an orthopaedic trauma specialist, I have watched many patients go through this process.  I am open to any questions you may have or help with information regarding your wife's injuries and recovery.   Sometimes it may help to have another experienced contact in something like this, as predicting recovery, especially the time frame of recovery, can be difficult.  If you would like to email me, please do so.  Our thoughts and hopes rest with the both of you.
