Well, here's my version of a High Wheel log hauler.

My a** hole buddy never even called, after promising to help me get these logs, SO, my son and I did it the "old fashioned" way, USE YER HEAD !! It was slow, but, it worked. The logs was 80 feet away, down hill, in SOFT sand.

Better view.

Here's the loader , DanG. See, it works. :)

The wheel is the low wheel axle rig. The log is lifted off of it and onto the trailer.

Now the log is loaded

Here's the BIG winch we used

That sure looks tropical, Harold.  Where are you?

We are in Sebastian, Tom. That's some of the Brown Cedar I posted about.

Mmmmmmmm  sure looks homey.

what happened to the other tire?

That side keeps the axle as low as we can get it. We use another car wheel as leverage and place the cable over it and that raises the log enough to get the axle under the log. Takes a lil luck to keep the wheel upright in this sand. :D

How did you get the log lifted on the axle?  That looks like Arky engineering  8)

Rmay. re-read the last post I made. We stand a car wheel up, like a pulley and run the cable over it. When you tighten the cable, that raises the log. We put the axle as close to the log as possible, then the wheel.  We have a better name for it. ::) ;D ;D

Fla. Deadheader I will have to try it with my tractor . I had a 32" by 16 ft. red oak log that my 950 J D would pickup one end  but would not pull without rearing up . I worked on it off & on for 6 months geting it out .It came out good as two 8 ft. logs. :D

One thing you have to watch. If you don't tie the log well, to the axle, it will "steer" itself. We put a chain to the axle and pulled from there. 2 tires are better than one, if you can get the log up on the axle.
