Idaho/Washington Forest Owners Field day

The 2004 Idaho/Washington Forest Owners field day will be held on June 26th at Nora Creek Forest about 4 miles east of Troy, Idaho. This all day event will be held on Charley McKetta's Tree Farm which was selected as the 2003 Idaho Tree Farm of the year. The all day event will feature hour long demonstrations covering; thinning, pruning, forest weeds, timber and log markets, planting and afforestation, forest measurements, insect and disease identification and management and wildlife habitat management along with other subjects to be announced. In addition there will be a couple of three hour programs covering riparian area management and restoration for landowners that want a more indepth look at the subject. There will also be variety of dealers selling and demonstrating everything from small logging tractors & winches to pruning equipment to chainsaws to forestry services to sawmills to firewood splitters. The event is jointly sponsored by the Idaho Dept. of Lands, the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources, the Idaho Forest Landowners Association, the Washington Farm Forestry Association and several private corporations and firms. The cost is $15/person or $30/family, which includes an excellent picnic lunch, with a signup before June 18th or $20 and $35 with a signup after 6/18.
