I sawed a large maple today and it was ambrosia.I cut it 4/4 and8/4 and I have a ten footer left to cut tomorrow. What deminsions do turners prefer? It is 26 inches diameter. It sure is wild lookin.Looks like brown snakes crawing through it.And it has random birdseye.

I turn and the sizes that a lot of turners would agree with would be 8X8, 10X10 and 12X12 with the blanks being 2 and 3 inches thick and maybe 4 inches thick. Turning blanks that I have bought have been sealed on all edges with just a 2-3 inch circle in the center unsealed.  Hope this helps.
