Busy enjoying, my last ever Vacation Day. Gives you a sinking feeling doesn't it.
Today I need to get packed for a trip to Upstate New York so my wife can attend her oldest sister's 50th Anniversary Party.
Tomorrow I will be up at 5:30 AM to go enjoy my last ever Work Day. Hopefully after the Retirement Luncheon. I can get started on the trip up state.
It will be a short fast weekend as we have to be back Monday afternoon for a Doctors appointment. Then I will have time to decide if I like being retired. Most likely I will, but after working since 1963 I will be a big change.
Time will tell!

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

More than anything, I missed the guys I worked with. For a while, it was almost like someone died. The BS that went with parts of the job was a fast fading memory though, and I couldn't be happier. I still get up at 5:00 AM, and go to bed tired. I never pictured retirement as life with a fishing pole, a good book, or watching TV all day. But it's nice to know you can if you want to. Theres too many other things to do.   8)

Welcome? I thought I retired in 1999 but then i found so many other things to do that I never work just 40 anymore. I now keep busy about 70-90 hrs a week including 7days/week. If you get too tired you can always go back to work. Good luck,

Take it easy and do the things you want to do.  Life is too DanG short otherwise.  You don't want to be like me and be putting in over 140 hours in in 12 days.  I do like the pay check however. ;) ;)

I guess I am retired too. I build (current tense) a house for a living. Not houses. I quit that. I build my wife's house for a living so I guess I am retired. ;D I have been building it since August of 2003. Well I hadn't really hit a lick on it in a few months worth tellin anyway. A little here a little there.

You'll find something to do too. :D When you do, do like me. Pace yourself. ;) Enjoy yourself too. No one else will do it for you. :)

That is great. With my 4 days on and 4 days off,I'm almost retired at 45.  :D  I would only have to work 6 months a year, take away 5 weeks vacation, and 10 paid holidays I'm down to less than 5 months. Enjoy the time off.Take your wife somewheres every week and enjoy yourself.A day trip a week is great for a marriage.Lucky you.

I retired at age 60 and my only regret was I waited too long. I work as hard now as I ever did but it is at my schedule. I had planned to put a rocking chair by the door and every time I went by, look at it and say some day I will get chance to sit in it. So far, I have not even got the rocking chair.

Enjoy that retirement. I  retired 12 years ago and ain't got caught up yet. Pinenut, I did the same thing with a porch swing, did get the swing, but it rotted away. I figure the day probably will come when I'll HAVE to sit and swing, but until then, there's too many things I want to do. I have a disabled wife to care for, but still find time to cut a few trees, saw some boards, build stuff and anything else that suits my fancy.  Love it..

Thanks for all the replys!

Well this is my first real retirement day. Thursday I went in and finished up some loose ends until lunch time. Then it was time for,  horn_smiley Lunch Cake, Card, and Hugs from all the girls. smiley_heart
Then you have your exit interview. Basically they collect your Badge, Cell Phone, Key, and Credit Card, and then escort you to the door. go_away
After leaving work last Thursday we headed out of town and just got home last night. So today I have to decide witch of the many unfinished projects to start in on.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Guess I better make another pot of coffee while I think on this.   smiley_idea
