I am thinking of having a guy I know build me a saw to use when Alaskan style mil for the occasional log thats too big for the band mill. I get it with its heasier to stay away from big logs but this is a hobby so what are your ideas for the perfect ripping saw

If you can find an 090 or an 076 or other vintage 100cc+ muscle saw in good running condition they make great mill saws. Otherwise, new options, IMO the best bet would be a 395xp, maybe a 3120 or 880 if you needed to do really big stuff. 661 wouldn't be a bad choice either. Basically you want big cubes, horsepower!

For stuff to big for the slabber, my dream setup would be a double ended bar with a pair of 066/660/661s.

Reasoning is that is about the biggest saw that I would have another use for and okay by itself, but 2 gives a lot of power.
