LMsaws in British Columbia have two yard saws designed for splitting large logs. There was no price given but I sure wish I had one of them.  

One will split an 8 foot log and one a 5 foot log.  It sure would be a handy tool to have around the sawmill.

That begs the question - Are the bulk of the big logs you saw 8 footers?

We grow em BIG out here.You should have seen the logs they used to build the B.C. pavillion at Expo in Japan. The longest one came out of the bush  on special bunks OVER two Hayes HDX 's That Douglas fir was 14' at the butt. Those truckers were good.
