I've got a firewood tumbler and I want to do away with the infeed conveyor. I would like to build a hopper and dump the firewood in the hopper with my skidsteer. Does anyone else here do it like that?

Almost forgot, and a very patient woman

Don't see why it shouldn't work.   I used a old manure spreader as a " hopper " and put it on a 45 degree structure . The top beater was set just below the apron chain and acts like a separator.  No tumbler, put it works for me.
Make sure you know how to fall properly when you fall and as to not hurt anyone around you.
Also remember, it's not the fall what hurts, its the sudden stop. !!
