I was fortunate to get some black walnut from the recent tornado damage.  Picked up the following piece as well.  Can you help with the identification?

Big log looks like its something in the red oak family...maybe northern red oak

Look oakish. Up here our red oak stay smooth for awhile like a beech. I've seen some still smooth after 12" diameter.
