Mary and I have not sawn out a log or post and beam house.  But we've been involved in a couple of projects.

Here is a new home in our area (only a couple of years old and not yet "done") that was built from two old log houses.  The two houses were reconstructed on a full basement and expanded with a framed in "dog trot" in the middle plus a large shed addition across the back.  I think they also expanded the depth by adding in the fireplaces on each end.

Mary just finished sawing about 2,500 bf of white oak for the front porch.  It's a little over 6' deep and runs the length of the front and turns down both sides about 2/3 of the way.
