I think that is a log turner. Most likely was steam powered.

I,ll  go along with the log turner  guess, lots of other goodies there . I would like to see more pictures of your "IRON STASH" !! ;D ;D , What tractor is powering the road grader in the background? Don

Has to be a log turner and a DanG ingenious one at that. There's a couple of cams on there to increase the stroke. Looks like another shaft coming out the bottom, hidden in the grass. Likely powered by a pulley running a flat belt, hooked up somewhat similar to the carriage feed on a circle mill. The ingenuity of those ole timers never ceases to amaze me.

Log turner is correct.
Grader is a Galion,  power is 1927 I-20 IHC

That is a DanG interesting looking pile of rust.  We need to see more pictures of the rest of the inventory there.
Last Sunday was the first time I had ever heard your Lombard actually run.  It sounds Great!

There is a pic of a steam log turner in my 1923 American Sawmill Machinery book that looks similiar to that, do you know what brand it is?
