in august i'm going to have to go to augusta for a week. can anyone recomend a good hotel in a safe part of the city? it's been 15 years since i was there and know nothing about the city anymore. my class will be at augusta tech.

I was in Augusta last September. The area around Ft. Gordon is safe. A good place to eat is SNUGS Bar and Grill. They have excellent steaks. I'm not familiar with the area around AT.

Any motel along Washington Road should be fine.  The motels and eateries in that area are geared toward the Masters week, so they will be seriously underbooked in August.  Washington Road is exit 199 from I-20.
