I didn't get a before pic, but anyone with an LT30-40-50 will know the wires coming out of the little motor. One of mine broke off flush with the grommet. I think it gets hit when I use the blade tensioner handle. I've seen this on other LT40s. I was able to take the end cap off the motor and take it back to my house where I could use my soldering iron. I cut the other wire off also to be able take the endcap home. Thinking about it now, there may have been connectors in the wire guard somewhere.

I had to put the endcap in the vise and drive the grommet out with a punch. I soldered on two new pieces of wire and put bullet connectors on the end to reattach to the mill. I'm going to get some small shrink tubing and replace the bullet connectors at some point with soldered connections. I think I can run the soldering iron off of my 800 watt uninterruptable power supply. (Because I don't have a Power Box like da goat has ;D ).

After fixing mine I put a cap on it.

Order a rubber cap from Woodmizer to cover that motor.
Its the same cap that cover most of the Debarker motors.
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

I did like POSTON WIDEHEAD suggested a couple years back!

I believe it's and old Bibbyman mod the he did a long time ago, after he got tired of scraping his knuckles when adjusting the tension!

Well......  Yesterday my blade guide motor quit working, so I had to replace the bush-cap assembly!

When I pulled the rubber boot off, I was very surprised that the motor was mostly covered with rust and there was moisture inside the boot!

This resulted in moisture being drawn inside the motor.

I didn't replace the boot yet, but I will.

I will get a length of covered wire and insert it on the bottom of the motor, running the length of the boot!  This will allow any gathered moisture to drain out!

Chuck, dress the motor leads to the bottom of the motor.  This will/should prevent water from migrating along them to get inside and as you mentioned, provide an escape route for any trapped moisture.

A bead of Silicone Grease applied to the motor will also form a seal to prevent moisture intrusion.
