Slight leak at seal. It's hydraulic oil, assume from brakes.
If anyone has any input on this repair, I'd be grateful.
The Repair manual on the NAF bogie that came with machine is not very helpful.

snowstorm

is it at the seal or is it one of the steel brake lines rusted? there is a cast cover. a 6 or 8 " small steel line there that can rust through

leeroyjd

Snowstorm I've had to replace those in the past. I'll double check, thanks!

leeroyjd

@snowstorm are you talking about one of the covers on the bogie to get at the chain? Or the one on the axle that exposes that short steel line?
Wasn't at machine yesterday but will be double checking it today.

snowstorm

short steel line with copper crush washers. its a good place to start

Unfortunately it's not that line.
Just to be clear it's leaking where the bogie pivots.

This leak stopped for the winter and oil levels were good.
It got bad while working today, and it seems like the brakes were engaged heating up the transmission temp.

snowstorm

200 to 250 is normal trans temp. as far as brakes dragging that would have to be the working brake. released by the trans switch when its put in gear or something is amiss or a drift in the rear. pull the plug in the diff see what the oil looks like
