I took in a 288xp on trade , kinda knew to Huskys. Looking over the beast I found it seems the right and left side anti vibe pieces are missing from the front end of fuel tank assembly.
The ones in the rear are there , but the same type of space located in front section the anti vibes are missing. The bolt that secures chain catcher is fastened with a nut ,same on other side.
Is this correct ?
Thank You !

I took a look at my 268 , there are 2 anti vibes up front . figure I'm correct in thinking they are missing on the 288

Here is the 288 IPL. It shows 1 big spring up front with screws on both sides.

Yes , the spring is the front antivibe on the 288xp not the screw in bushing type

There are 4 small rubber or spring(optional) mounts that connnect the gas tank to the engine block, 2 at the front, 2 at the rear. The large spring that connects the felling dog to the bottom of the handle is in addition. There should be 5 mounts all together.

Thank you Dnash
Was with Husky dealer and tech
That model , they say as do all service manuals that there are 2 sets of antivibes upper and lower near rear of fuel tank assembly
The big spring coming off the inside dog is the only device up front.

Thank you both for your responses !

You can install antivibes in the front spot. Mine is running 6 of the spring AVs and the big one up front.

Thanks Decableguy2000, I'll check into it . I'll just need to thread the front base sections and order a couple up

I had to replace the tank on mine and all of the antivibes had no threads. It's my understanding that some 281/288's had a combo of spring and rubber AV's and some only used the rear 4 and the big one on the tank. The IPls aren't real clear.

Yes , without a doubt the IBLs are a tad vague. Found a site for "Genuine" Husky replacement parts on the net { actually my 8 yr old daughter pulled it up} the plate showed the 4 AVs in the rear and only the big spring up front.  But hooking up a front pair sounds easy enough, couldn't hurt !
Thanx again !
