clark ranger, hey guys im new to the forum and realatively new to logging,i just bought a 73 clark ranger 667 cable machine with a 453 detroit, weve been servicing it to get on a job but i ran into a problem when i changed the tranny fluid and filter the stuff that came out looked like vanilla ice cream, i did drive good dont know how,but we put new fluid and filter and at idle the filter canister wouldnt seal,it actually blew the canister off, dont know what to do.

The transmission pump pulls suction from the bottom of the transmission then directs the flow to the filter housing and into the transmission.  If it is blowing the canister you have a dead head situation going on. Good thing it is blowing the canister and not busting the gear pump.  I would disassemble the filter head and make sure none of the passages are clogged.  Also the  pressure regulator mounted on the torque converter housing could be stuck closed.
