You can obtain the carbon alloy blades with either flex or hard back. The flex back blades are made to use on saw with small diameter band wheels, diameter less than 24 inches. The blade body are harden to  a Rockwell C of about 42 and the teeth tips to about 65.

The hard back blades must be used on large diameter wheels to get any blade life. The whole blade is harden too in the sixties range. This blade has higher tensile strength and can stand higher feed rates.
