This may help some of the new Woodland Mills owners when cutting boards from a cant.

I use a piece of 1/2" magnetic (circled in red) tape which lets me know how far the blade is above the log bunks--- the same as if you used a tape measure on the cant.

To set the pointer, measure 4" from the log bunk to the center of the blade--- now you know your blade is 4" off the mill deck. Slide the numbered magnetic scale so the pointer, points at the 4" mark.

Now, if you want to cut six 4/4 boards from the cant, calculate your height plus the 1/8" curf of the blade. Set the sliding indicator on a 4/4 mark and start your cuts. The bottom board should be the same size as the first board.

In the picture, I know the blade on my HM130 is 6" above the bunks

What I did was to put a second scale on the backside of my scale
with it's own pointer telling me at all times how high up my blade
is from the bed.
