I just found a stihl 029 farm boss at a sale for $50, the owner told me that the oil adjustment screw on the bottom was stripped and the saw wouldn't oil.  Can anyone tell me if this is fixable, and how easy or hard it would be to fix? Thanks

Crispy, Depends on how mechanical you are and how far you want to go with it. I,ll attach an IPL for an 029 http://www.smaf-touseau.com/doc/92
You could order a new pump or you could contact http://store.chainsawr.com/ and see if they have a used one. I have no idea how much they cost, that would be your call as to go for the saw and fix it yourself, as you can see the oiler is behind the drive sprocket and clutch. Not a super hard job IMO! Good luck, Tim

In my opinion it sort of is up in the air. If that's all that is wrong with it maybe an easy fix. If it has a good chain and bar on it that is almost worth $50 bucks. But if it requires much more keep in mind you can pick-up a new Echo 590 for $389 or a little less and have a warranty of 5 years. More CC's and will cut circles around the Stihl. I have both.

You never know when you buy used. Course sometimes you can buy new and get a lemon.
Give me a new saw chain and I can find you a rock in a heartbeat.

I believe it's worth fixing, not sure of the cost of a new oiler but it isn't a bad job to make the repair.
