Title: Deer Food Plots
Post by: Magicman on October 03, 2013, 10:56:23 PM
Since Marty and I leave for Colorado Monday, the food plots had to be done today.

I subsoiled Monday with a single shank subsoiler.  No rocks here.   ;D  I was down about 12"-14"

Then this morning I broke it up with the disk.

The seeds were mixed using a precise ultra secret and carefully guarded formula.   ;D

The seed and fertilizer was then distributed.

The disk blades were now straight and the drag/harrow hooked up to cover the seed.  Almost immediately after I finished, I got a nice little rain and we are looking for more tomorrow and Saturday.  As warm as it is, those seed should really sprout.   :)

I plant 4 plots.  Two that we hunt and two that we do not.  I also have ~150 acres of timber where no hunting is allowed.

Good luck again this year Lynn.  I got my 3 plots in about 3 months ago. The deer are hitting them. I hope to get something this year. Got skunked on my own place but got 2 in w. va last year. Freezer is empty.

Nice, looks like a double bonus, go to the mountains, hunt, come home and more hunting,  8)  I can even see where I might set up, just over by those separated oaks on the far side of the plot, looks kinda like a state park,  ;D    david

In the sorta top right corner of the second picture, you can see the Straw House.  :)  There was a huge Red Oak tree behind it but lightning struck and killed it.  It finally fell last year.   :-\
