I have got my kiln up and running. I have put 1000 BF of mixed species  (5% walnut, 10% maple, and 85% cherry) in the kiln. In the first week I am removing about 5 gallons of water per day. Is this to much water to remove in the beginning?

I think I would look at temp, starting moisture, and your schedule. With that maple in there, if you are starting from completely green, you will have to pull it out fairly fast to stop sticker stain. If you had this stickered for several weeks before it went in, and it is 1" lumber, you should be fine. Its been my experience you can dry those species fairly easily without degrade, excepting the sticker stain on the maple.
