Not a lot of other plants will 'hold a candle' to this one.

                                          


Used in the place of a product derived from animal fat in the past.

M says Bayberry but now I want to use wax myrtle again.

I know if I keep using one name I'll get one right sometime, course I've seen that logic take a long time to pay off in other instances. :D

That's what it is, Wax Myrtle.  M is right too. it is called both.

Stories about this plant are interesting and one would be well entertained to find sites describing it.  Here is another photo.
