Post by: hamish on March 26, 2013, 01:21:38 PM
Was I the only one that saw that on the last page of Sawmill and Woodlot march issue?

Nothing on the Norwood site yet, does look interesting.

I saw that in Timberline back in the begining of Feb. I email Mike from Norwood and he said this,
We will be bringing out an upgraded LumberMate Pro MX34 in April and it is what will be known as the LumberPro HD36.  The two are basically identical except that the HD36 has another two inches of log capacity and a centrifugal (versus mechanical) clutch.  You can order the current model today and it will accept all of the hydraulics.

Hamish, good eye.  I saw the ad & didn't notice the difference until you posted (sort of like "Where's Waldo).  A 12' long 36" white oak is a pretty serious log, and hydraulic assist will be most welcome.  Frame is already stout enough.  It will be interesting to see if they up the power and give it a wider cut capacity.  Glad they are good about supporting their older machines!

Norwood makes a neat mill.  I'd like to buy one just for the experience of putting it together.  Love that sort of thing.

Dave,

With only 36 pages in this issue I made real sure I read and starred at every page!

Yeah the challenge I have been having is all the BO (back ordered) material that is keeping me from doing the assembly as per manual, you get so far and whoops cannot go further without BO parts.

I have the same mill you are working on. Bought it in early 2014. I did purchase options like the trailer package, log loading and turning package, extra bed section and manual hydraulic toe boards. There is only about 150 hours on the mill. I use it mainly for personal projects although I have completed a couple small jobs for friends. The mill has worked well for me. Some minor issues but I worked through them and most were due to inexperience. Review the assembly process a couple times and don't get ahead of yourself. The instructions can be confusing at times.
I found that as the logs got bigger it was taking a toll on me to handle them so I purchased a tractor with an FEL. Now it is much more enjoyable. I work with a friend on his farm to harvest all the trees I saw. He had about 85 acres of bush. I fell, buck and haul all logs to the mill. Main species are hard/soft maple, red/white oak, cherry, ash and tulip poplar. I have as much fun working in the woods, getting the logs to the mill, as I do sawing them up.

I am new to the forum and I recognize you from the Norwood videos so I will address this question to you.   I recently purchased a new HD36 Pro totally hydraulic with the computer set works.  It took several months to get all of the parts to me  but I finally got it together. I have had to have Norwood send me three computers and it still isn't working. They have been very good about sending me the parts but just this week they asked me to go back to the power saw head until they could get a working Set works computer in.  My question is?  is there a set works computer out there that will work on the Norwood HD 36 other than the original?   Also am I the only one out here that has had problems with the Set works on a Norwood Sawmill?  Love my mill when its up and running.
