honda generator problem

the motor runs fine until you switch from manual to standby it wont run and then when you switch back you have a problem getting it to run right again it is four or five years old not to meny hours what should i do bypas the stand by option dissamble and clean it or what should i look for  it is a honda unit  ??? ??? 8)

  no  i ran 12 three extension cords to everything  you might say i am to cheep to buy convertor box i think the problem is in the standy assw i dont understand how it works you can play wiyh governor linkage on the carb and it will speed up and run manual  but when you switch to stanby it wont run  : : 8)

What do you mean by standby? Are you trying to use the auto idle? You may have too much load to get the engine to respond cleanly off idle. If this is the case, bring it up under part load then switch the rest on.
