Hello everyone,

My wife and I just got some beautiful 1 by 4 fir planks. They are all planed with rounded corners. We were thinking of just laying it on the floor and nailing it. I know many may think this is fool hardy but I have seen it done. If anyone has any info it would be great. If they were rough cut I would not even try. But they all our beautiful and dry. We were thinking of ship lap but I already have a full time job :)

Thanks ahead of time for your replies.

I've done it this way for many of my customers, it looks great. I think it depends on where it goes and the look that your after though. Once you have it down sand it, stain it and finish it.  :)

I have thought about something like that. How do you attach it? brass nails?

RE nailing, the really neat way to nail it down is to use cut nails.  Take the time to line them up when you're installing them and it will look great!
