Title: Foley Belsaw M14 for sale SOLD
Post by: apm on February 21, 2018, 08:18:11 PM
The Belsaw has been sold to a forum member and is going to a great home.

I've got a Foley Belsaw M14 for sale. I am the original owner and bought it new in 1984. This is a working saw and not a project. It is ready to make lumber today.

It has a good running Deutz 6 cylinder, air cooled diesel for power with a Twin Disc PTO clutch. It is an 8" flat belt drive, or alternately can be run off of a tractor PTO.

It comes with 3 saws, a 48", a 40" and a 36". All are inserted tooth saws in good shape. I'll include an Andrus saw sharpener, wrenches for changing the bits and whatever spare bits and shanks I've got.

It's a great running little mill and you can see it saw prior to purchasing. I'll help dismantle and can load on a trailer for you. Can be taken apart in an afternoon.

I'm located in Butler, Tennessee,  about as far northeast as you can get in Tennessee. Just a few minutes from the Virginia and the North Carolina lines.

I'm asking $3500.

I'm going to miss it, but I just bought a Timberking 1600 to replace it. I need portability and safety for the grandsons.

Oh Boy!   I'd be all over that if it was closer and I lived closer to my U.P. property. As an old circle mill sawyer, that looks so welcoming. :)

If you do not mind, how far is it from the engine pulley, to the mill pulley with that setup.
That is very similar to How Trapper John was setting his mill up.

You could have some fun with it, for sure. But, you'd probably miss your "crew" and it might remind you why you retired.  :D

There's 40' of track, so the pulley to pulley distance would end up about 24 feet, give or take.

It's not a Corley #5, but it'll still put out a lot of lumber. ;D

Thanks, that is a nice looking setup. If it was up here, I even know a guy who may be interested.

What does it have for dust removal?

It uses a dust chain driven by an electric motor. It's adequate, but not perfect.

I couldn't resist. A friend of mine wanted a mill and has a diesel tractor to power it, I have an identical mill and really liked that Deutz, my old MF is pushing 60 years old, it is time for a new horse! Don't know what we did but our wives agreed, there will probably be more on that later :D.  I could see the twinge as we pulled out, apm's wife had bought this mill new in '84 using butter and egg money she had squirrelled away. There are a lot of memories in that little mill. We had a great time visiting, got it broken down for travel yesterday and brought the first truckload home. It looks like we'll pick up the rest in about a week. My friend has bought the land adjoining theirs and needs to clear and saw, his Dad will be moving down. I will probably move my saw over to where I'll be working for the next good while. apm has one of those newfangled band things in the pasture waiting to move into the sawshed, he'll probably be able to get used to it though :).

Congrats, I sure don't see how you could go wrong on that deal.
