Check out some of the Dental colleges in your state.  Some of them have Labs where students work under a teaching dentist and perform all types of dental work.  They aren't hacks when they reach this point.   we have one in Jacksonville that gets good revues.  They do work for 1/4 of what a private DDS will charge and will charge your insurance too.  The only holdback is that it is a teaching facility and it may take more visits to get the job done than it would in a professional dental office.

Just met an Aussie in Vietnam (Siagon actually), he came up to have a ton of dental work done. I guess there are expats that do all the work of others (not Vietnamese) at a REAL cut rate. He had bridge work and a bunch of other stuff for $2000 instead of the $20,000 they wanted back in Austrailia. He was happy, and he got the "good stuff" not the plastic that he had gotten previously back home. He said it was a great way to make the trip pay for itself. FYI

I have used a dentist in Mexicali with great results. I was very happy with his work and the office staff. His name is Ernesto Cruz. It is a long way from WI but good excuse for a vacation. Joe

University of Iowa in Iowa City has a dental college where you may want to check out the prices. It is closer than Mexico.  ;)    I used to go there when I was in college.

I am in the upper Amazon of Peru and just had several root canals, three permanent bridges, and what was left all capped.  Forgot to mention that I had three and a half hours of surgery in the hospital and it all cost 3000 dollars.  My sisterinlaw up in Minneapolis had about identical work done for 80 thousand US.

Medical tourism is becoming a big thing in South America.  People are coming here for plastic surgery , dentistry etc. and having a great vacation and repairs all for a fraction of what the States costs.
