Hello, I'm new to the forum although I've been browsing for some time.

Been running chainsaws all my life, but never got into any in-depth work on them until now.

I'm beginning the process of putting a new oem P&C on a 272xp and have some questions before I proceed.
I've read a lot about the gasket deletes and such, but I'm not really interested in that. Just want a stock rebuild on the saw.

My first question, is the cylinder base gasket installed dry or with some sort of sealant?

Seems to be lots of varying opinions from my searches so I'm not sure what's best.

Thanks

I like a light coat of Permatex Hi Tack to hold the gasket in place while assembling, too easy for it to slip out of place and tear during installation.
