I've seen some country shows, Tammy Wynette [miss her] - George Jones, Mickey Gilley, George Strait, Randy Travis -  But never went to a rock concert 'till last night. My 15 year old guitar player's been bugging me, last night in Hartford we saw the Allman Brothers / Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - I couldn't handle AC/DC, Metallica or any like them, this was a pretty good show - 6:00 pm 'til midnight, you get your 35.00 worth.  What I couldn't believe was the amount of drunk & stoned young people there. 100 pot sniffing dogs wouldn't have been enough - They would have been exhausted. We left a little early, I wanted to be clear of the city before they all got behind the wheel. More than a little scary, but I guess it goes on all over, just a different  time & place.  Peace & Love - or Dazed & Confused ?
I was the smartest 16 year old I ever knew.

Iv been trying to get to a few concerts myself these last few years, the way I figure most all of the rockers that I grew up listening to are older then I and if there wearing out at the same rate that I am it won't be long and they will be done touring so I better catch there show now.
If it can't be nailed or glued then screw it

We are off to see U2 in November.. the tickets are like gold. First NZ concert sold out in 30 mins (60,000 tickets)
So they decided to do a 2nd gig.. sold out in 30 mins again  :o

Then they postponed for 6 months because of a family illness, no one complained.
I've seen them in concert a few years back, with BB King, a great show.
Only bands I'd like to see more are Metallica and Pearl Jam.. and there are rumours of a PJ tour down this way :)

Cheers

We saw Tom Petty last year.I think there was more pot there than the concerts in the '70 s and '80 s .

My daughter won weekend passes to the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans the last weekend in October. One of the headliners will be Duran Duran and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I'm looking forward to it. ;)

Dee got us tickets to Kid Rock's show at Boyne Mt the 26th.  Oughta be a good one.  I haven't been to a concert in couple years.  Last one I was at was Warrant at Leelanau Sands Casino.  Nice little concert.  Last BIG show we went to was AC/DC at the Palace in Auburn Hills.  That was the 2nd time seeing them and I'd love to go again.  They're getting old  :(

I assume the names of these folks (rockers, musicians, acts?) are made up to confuse us old folks.............some kind of inside joke?;  if y'all'd mentioned someone like Roy Orbison, I would've believed, 'cept I think he's gone to the big concert in the sky. 8)

Red Hot Chili Peppers used to put on a good show.  Hope they still do for you.

Last big inside concert I went to was Moody Blues in '71.  Got a kick out of folks in tuxes passing a joint.  ;D

Always heard a lot about folks smoking pot.  I tried and tried, and never could figure out how you got the things lit.  Finally it dawned on me one day, must have been talking about smudge pots.  I tried that once, man, don't know what that was supposed to do, but it wasn't good for me at all.

Used to do a bit of security for Pacifica Radio (they certainly had the need) once upon a time and got to see a lot of up and coming bands.

These days, I just put on my own personal concert when it strikes me.  If I tune it just right, I can even get the dogs to join in when they're around.

Eric Clapton will have one gig downunder in Jan--2007, the location is at a very old winery run (or used to be run) by Monks, it is a out door event and I am looking forward to it for sure--should be a hoot

I think the best show I ever saw was KISS back in the late 70s.

I tend to lean toward smaller venues myself, the Town Crier in Pawling NY is a favorite, they get quite a variety of artists serve really good food and are only ~20minutes from Kent & Warren.  Big rock shows are fun but getting there and back can be a hassle (especially leaving) and sometimes the crowd can be overwelming.

The lead singer for KISS has a new TV series that is going to start showing in the next few weeks. I saw the promo for the show, but cant remember what channel it is going to be on.

It is supposed to be a "family" type of show... something about raising his daughters and the things he goes through with them.

Thats Gene Simmons, the guy with the tongue. The show is Called Family Jewels.
A couple steps of coherency above the Ozzy show. :D

Radar67

Dundee, the group is still around, but it not the original members. The new stuff is not nearly as good as the old.

Gene Simmons was the bass player, Paul Stanley was lead singer, Peter Criss on drums, and Ace Frehley on lead guitar.

before they lost Newstead. (screwed up bigtime there)

Last show I went to was Fuel and a couple openers...3-4 years ago...
Learned I was offically too old for floor tickets.

I need to get out some show schedules and see who's playin...
I'm about due for another if I can stand to go the city...

Hmmm, concerts...

The first one I went to was the David Bowie Serious Moonlight tour, back in '83. I was 14. I sat on the phone for 2 days and WON tickets coz there was no way I could afford them, and mum said I could only go if I won tickets, so I did, and then she couldn't back out (never thought I'd win!!!). A girl she worked with took me, coz she was the only 'grown up' I could find that wanted to go, but she was cool anyway, it was a fantastic concert, although I did think the woman about 4 rows ahead of us was insane for being at a rock concert quite as heavilly pregnant as she was. My thoughts were borne out when she went into LABOUR during the concert... (I wouln't go to a concert pregnant, for fear of sending the baby deaf!!!).

Others I've been to are:

Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mombaza (1987), they were FANTASTIC.

Pink Floyd, Money Tour, in 1989, again fantastic. Couldn't figure out for the life of me why so many people were smoking indoors...  ;)  I know now, but then I was innocent.

Split Enz, not too bad, a little dissappointing, but still good.

I REALLY wanted to go to see Billy Joel in November, But I ain't got no mooooooooney...  hehe

I imagine there are more, but I can't remember them... hehe

The best concerts I go to nowadays are my daughter's choir :D Last concert (last week) they sang with Darryl Cotton and Russell Morris. Russell sang "Wings of an Eagle" (with the chamber choir), "Bye Bye Baby", and of course, the "Real Thing" He was magnificent, I actually enjoyed it more than last year when they sang with the Vienna Boys Choir. Although I'll never ever forget the VBC singing "O Fortuna"(the Carl Orff classic from Carmina Burana) the hairs stood up on my arms, it was absolutely magnificent.

Went to see Jimmy Buffett this summer---great show and great crowd.  People from 10 to 65 in the crowd everybody in costume or beach ware singing along and having a good time.  The Parotheads show up as soon as the parking lots open and the lot truns into one big beach party for several hours before the show.  Must do it again before he retires.

Went to my first one at 16, Head East in Fargo, ND in 1978.  Saw lots of "wash ups" in my college years, bands that had become second and third tier acts.  Bounced in a biker bar for a while, saw some there.

Only multi-time concert so far was Rush in 1981, 2002, and 2004 (twice).  That will be broken the end of the month when I see Big Head Todd and the Monsters for the second time.  Great musicians and showmen.  I won't miss them very often in my travels.  Watch their schedule pretty close.

Would have like to have seen the Tragically Hip before they got weird.  Now, not so much.

Oh yeah, how could I forget one of my favourites!!!

Fleetwood Mac!!!

Only I was dissappointed that they had to carry Stevie Nicks onto the stage :(
(they need to restrict her access to imbibable substances prior to performance)

But they were still magic.

asy :D

Oh, and they did one of my favourite songs... Landslide.
