I would like to experiment with one, with different cutting bits. ???

I searched fleabay with NO results ???  Suggestions ???

Is an Air impact hammer the same thing?

Air chisel? I have one, I think from Craftsman. You can find them sometimes as a kit with 5-6 bits for less than $20. I like the sheetmetal cutter, it works well. I don't know what the longevity is, but you could probably build the bits up and grind them to whatever profile you need.

Air chisel is what I call it too.  I use it to cut drums and exhaust systems.

I got one from the flea market for $14.  A set of assorted chisels is about $8-10.  If you ain't real particular about how it looks, it will make short work of sheet metal.

Yep.. air chisel and Harbor freight usually has them on sale for around $9.
Been there, done that.   Never got caught [/b]

I've sharpened one of the long chisels to a regular wood chisel shape and used it to waste out stock in big mortises before, just stay away from the finished outline and clean up by hand. They're cheap enough that on wood I run them without oil.

Blacksmiths use'em too for making quick work of some drawing operations. Will also make some interesting patterns on the work too.

Real handy for ripping up tile floors, too. We used one to remove out bathroom tile- took longer to run the hose and get set up than it did to chip up the tile!
I hope my ship comes in before the dock rots!

They aren't very expensive Harold. I got a 10 gallon Compressor, two impact wrenches, the air chisel with chisel and punch, an air blower for cleaning filters, an air painter and a air guage for $250 on a sale. A lot of that stuff ain't even been out of the boxes. You see how clean that chisel is don't ya? :D

There's no place to land, swampdonkey.  Central America is too narrow at Costa Rica for an airport.  If they try to land North and South, the passengers would need passports because the runway would go through three countries.

SwampDonkey

Well there now. Time to go visit the grand babies about now eh? ;)

Guess they gotta start setting down sooner Tom, so they come to a stop in CR.
Long as they stay moving, it would be hard to check the passports. ;D

:-\  Too bad I did not know of this request a few weeks ago , I have an aunt that is gone down there to finalise the sale of her house. You could of had one real close , well that would be relitive to where I am to you  ;D :D

Those air hammers are not that heavy, how much would shipping be for a three pound box ???

It's not so much the shipping, it's having to go to San Jose to retrieve from the Mail service-Aduana. They open the package in front of you, and tabulate the cost they think you should pay.

We have to go into San Jose within the next month, so, I will check around.

  Thanks, Marcel
