Anyone out there have a fern problem?
They have taken over about 10 to 15 acres of my beautiful 65 acre Hardwood stand.
I tried roundup several years ago on about an acre but they came back in a couple of years.
Nothing regenerates under them.
Wish I could burn like you southern fellows, but is unlawful here in the kingdom of liberal

Are they hay scented ferns? I have seen them invade under sugar maple if the ground has a high water table and a lot of sunlight. Spraying is going to kill the little maples. Might have to eat more deer meat. ;D

Might find something useful here, I did not read it.

They are a state forester here's nemesis, preferred method for him seems to be spraying.

Ran across this recently: Horse logging equipment

Could build one real easy to pull behind atv/utv, tractor, whatever  if it works as well as the brits say it does. Some real good papers out there on hay scented and new york fern impacts on hardwood regen.
