I have 33 acres in Smithville, Texas.  It is heavily wooded with cedar, mesquite, oaks, ash, and some maples.  A LOT of cedar.  Very mature trees.  I would like to clear the land up somewhat so I can get around the property.  Would logging companies be interested in taking the cedar trees and maybe I make a little $$ at the same time?  Just wondering...

Perhaps.  I know Wampler near Austin/Bastrop loves to log cedars.  I've never used them - I've only talked with them on the phone.

I'm not sure what they pay for cedars, but when they sell them (other loggers I have talked with with), they wanted $100/ton delivered.

I worked out a deal with a guy near LaGrange to cut his dead cedars down.  I get the logs for free - I just have to go get them.   I'll be getting just a few at a time. I'm not a logger and don't have big efficient equipment.
