You surely are right about the "cultural" differences when it comes to bars and chain - that's part of the reason that there are both standard and small (mini with Stihl) 7-spline drums available (but not always listed) for so many saws in the 50 - 60+ cc range.

Many 60cc saws come (standard) with .325(x7) in Europe, and that standard 7-spline isn't compatible with .325x7 (or x8).

I never really thought about the bearing being a problem, but there really isn't much to it.

Contractor brought me a MS391 the other day, which was a pleasant departure from the steady stream of TS420's he had been bringing me.

Anyway, the bearing was gone. I guess they decided they didn't need one. So, the drum proceeded to cut a hole in the end of the oil pump and the oil sump line . Locked the oil pump up and ruined the worm.

Their complaint was that the chain wouldn't stay tight. ???

Joe, you might know the specs here. When I bought my 1st 034AV in the early 1980s it came with the mini 7 spline bore (11/16") drum and rim sprocket.
Years later the 034 was upgraded to the larger standard 7 spline.
The▪029/MS290▪MS310▪034/036/
MS360/MS361▪039/MS390 all have the same clutch drum and rim sprocket .
Now if we can find a old 034 mini 7 spline drum we could put a Picco 63PS chain on any one of these saws....... :P

Sorry Willard, That would be a little earlier before I started my business.
I could only access a PC this evening (out where there was none for the past few days)
I looked up the old Electronic Catalogue that I have of 1999-2000 and also  the subsequent Mediacat.
I did not see that drum mentioned.
I do have a hard copy of a Chain and Bar catalogue from the 90s, that I have misplaced. If I find it I will look it up and post if the drum you need is given a mention.
But, please tell me what would happen if I were to run a Picco chain on a bigger saw, like the 290 to 460 if I had a 3/8 spur drum replace the spline drum and rim sprocket?
With a narrow 1.3mm bar (solid nose or with nose sprocket)
Just curious

Joe, MS460 is a little overkill for the Picco chain for normal cutting unless it's for  chain saw milling.
Like I said earlier 3003 mount Stihl  bars with picco sprocket noses are available in 16"-18".

The upgraded 034 standard 7 spline sprocket drum bearing #9512 933 2380 is same part on a 044AV.

Now as this thread started about the OP who wants a faster cutting chain for his MS290, it led me to researching how to get a Picco rim sprocket on these series of saws including the 341, 361.

Just one other b/c option for these saws.

No worries Holmen...I'm still learning here and I'm all about learning.
Seems like a related topic to me.  How to get the b/c to go through faster and with less effort.

Thanks AlaskaLes, as you can see I'm still learning.
I've eliminated the NK .325 on my smaller saws and am very impressed how the little Stihl chisel 63PS chain cuts!

I'm sure Oregon and Husqvarna wish they made a chisel  91 series chain.
Maybe their already developing one as I talk :D

I don't know who makes the Logosol branded bars - but it likely isn't Stihl, as they sell the Stihl bars discussed earlier here as Stihl bars (16 and 18").

Okay, now I'm looking for the Bar; sprocket; chain.

Bar#3003 008 6621

Sprocket Kit# 1125 007 1001

Chain# 3736 002 0080

Is there a vendor here that is likely to have all of these in one stop.

Good idea with the .325 to share with your 353. Your local Stihl dealer should be able to get that all for you
The 1125 007 1001 drum kit with .325-7T  rim what I found on UK Ebay is probably still in inventory with Stihl here in North America .
I just didn't bother going to my Stihl dealer to enquire.
If not available then Google that # and get it off Ebay.
