Smooth Cage Fungus





Apparently it's a common enough fungus in NZ and Australia, but I've only ever seen pictures of them before. Then I see this one growing under the hedge beside my car this morning.

Weird looking thing, you would swear it was a hunk of old polystyrene foam  :-\
Weekend warrior, Peterson JP test pilot, Dolmar 7900 and Stihl MS310 saws and  the usual collection of power tools :)

Not hungry enough to find out  :D

It appears about as appetising as a chunk of mouldy polystyrene.... Suspect it would taste the same...

It was interesting Googling and reading about that strange mushroom.
