Standard, Super, Mag II Sthil 056
« on: September 22, 2009, 09:32:23 AM »
Looking at buying a used 056 and wanted to know what the difference is between the Super and Mag II models.  I am looking for something to use in a chain mill.  Guy is asking $250 and says it runs great.  It is a Super model.  I've heard the ignition on these can be very costly to replace (+$150).

Any gotchas to watch out for?

They say they are powerful old dogs .The ignition modual you are refering to is an SEM internal type and I believe is the same one used by the 2100 Husqvarna .Yes,about $150 for a new one .

There are two different types of ignitions for these saws. Some came with a Bosch system and some came with a SEM type. SEM are costly and hard to find used. Bosch systems are out there but are proned of having issues.
