Garrett 15 weight

I am trying to determine the approximate weight of a garrett 15 with the 3 cylinder gas motor. I need to move one and not sure how large a truck and trailer to use.

I,m going to guess around 8000 pounds, any tandem axle  trailer ment to be pulled by a one ton should work. I overhauled one with the loader which is heavier than the straight skidder and the owner hauled it on a C60 Chevrolet.
Another thought, the man that used to move my 21's before he passed away hauled them on his tilt bed wrecker from his towing company, just make sure that the truck is a 1.5 ton or better.

   the weright of the machine should be closer to 10 to 12 tons,  a dully triple axel will haul the load .. does the skidder have chains or fluid in the tires? deffenitly use a 1.5 ton at least for a short move!!

     :D not a problem JW, its not hard to miss the general weight on a piece of equipment !!! working around it most of my 20 years of liveing with 40 years of experience does not always get me there either????  as in most of lifes suprizes we all have a few coming around the corner, some hits and a lot of miss,es......

Do you know what your Garrett 10 weighs? I'm thinking the 8000 to 10,000 pound range is close. This is an early model and there wasn't that much steel to them.

Not sure how it compares as I have never seen a Garret skidder, but i recently had an excuse to put the TJ205 over the scales and it came in at close enought to 7500kg.

I've got a Model 15 with the 172 ford diesel, Hauled it with a triple axle backhoe trailer, had to put the tires on one side a bit on the edge lip of the trailer, but it rode well with a 3/4 ton GM diesel pickup pulling it.  I would guess the machine weight at somewhere between 5 and 7 tons.
They are one nice machine for select work, and can handle a pretty good side hill without tipping over.  Don Garrett in Enumclaw, WA has a fair supply of parts available for the old machines too.

Mine weighs 11000 lbs acording to the manual.
