It's one thing to learn how to do the work and invest in the equipment required in order to preform the task on a regular basis and something else to just have one or two trees taken down.
You can always save money by offering to be the ground man and run the ropes .
Just have them drop it and walk away, you do the clean up.
Check with local utility foresters, some guys will be doing it as side work, they may or may not have insurance.
Get a couple of quotes just to see what they want.

I stumbled across a Spruce today that needs topping, if the weather holds on Friday I'll take it down and get a few pictures.

This is one way to take the top out of a spruce tree.
Used a single rope technique to safety in.

Took all the limbs off one side to load the top in the direction of the fall.

Open face, back cut and one top on the ground.

Not a bad spot to spend the day,  :)

Summer slippers.  ;)

This is the other one I was chewing on, the river washed away the bank causing it to work the cable.
If it broke the lashing wire the cable would have to be delashed and relashed over the river.
