acai berrys

i tried a search on here, but i was thinking i once read a thread on here about someone who used the acai berrys or maybe the juice for some sort of illness they had. i may even spelled that incorrectly. does anyone here have any experiences either good or bad with the product. my girlfriend is going to start taking them and i was wondering?

i think they are a product of some palm tree in the southern hemisphere. :P
