As I was ordering my logrite cant hook I remember (before i knew that a log that was squared up was called a cant) thinking that it was called a cant hook because you "can't" turn a log without it. It's ok to think to yoursel.... "idiot".....

Welcome to the Forestry Forum, Ray.

Not to worry, lots of people don't know what a cant or a cant hook is.

Raym,
Terminology can be confusing at times. The first time I heard the term Jump Butt, I thought I done something wrong, and was about to get a scolding for something!  That is what the FF Dictionary is for, very usefull to newbies.     Andy smiley_furious3 smiley_furious3

Raym, there is nothing wrong with not knowing, but there is everything wrong with not asking.

Anyway I believe that you ordered an LT40Super.  How is your sawing going?

Now that you have one, you can just think of it as a "can hook" ;D

I'm sure that a lot of people (including me) have made the "can't hook" connection.  My problem is with the computer terminology.  Terms like "log on", "motherboard" (that big one that you dropped on your foot), and "modem" (as, "with my new chain saw I can really modem trees down") still confuse me. :D

Welcome Raym!

Can't think of a better place to ask about cants and cant hooks!

The one that had me going for a while was FAO.  Fine Adjustment Outrigger!  DanG TLA's and FLA's!  (Three-Letter Acronyms and Four-Letter Acronyms)

If you haven't been in here much, there is a really nice feature under "Extras" above called "Forestry Forum Dictionary" which is just loaded with terms and definitions.

Welcome Ray.
One of the reasons I get on here is that you can post something like that without being slammed, (by folks that don't know either).
Believe me, I get some funny looks for what I call things and some of the questions I've asked.

If you get your feet wet in the weather we've had the last couple of day you will wind up with frostbite.
