What do you think these are?

I believe these to be silver maple and ash.  Do you think that is correct or is it something else.  These have been on the ground a while, but I think there's still some good wood in there.

Ash is ring porous.  Maple is diffuse porous.  Hard to confuse the two if you have make a clean slice on the end grain and look at it with a magnifying lens or a 10X hand lens.

I'll definitely be making some cuts when I go pick them up on Monday.  Right now I just have these pictures.  I just hope they're not too far gone.  Been down a year.

By the bark the first pic looks likely to be maple. From the bark I'm not convinced that second pic is ash. Maybe I'm wrong but just doesn't quite have the ash bark pattern that I'm used to seeing here in the midwest.

First one looks like maple.  Even the fungus on the end looks about right.  ;)

Second one I would guess an Elm of some sort.  Sure is a big hollow thing behind it!!!

Elm would be fine too.  I haven't cut any elm yet.  I don't think I'll get to take the hollow one still standing.
