I'd like to build a slab mill around 60".  I searched for posts about build but didn't find any.  I thought I'd ask in a post if anyone can point me in a fruitful direction.  Thanks.

Howdy believer, bout the only suggestion I can give is to check out youtube, a search should give you something to look at,      david
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

Check out the L-M chainsaw splitter.  There are also some good posts on building your own chainsaw mills here.  One particularly good one that could be scaled up is by pitotshock available at https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,41080.msg592651.html#msg592651

Also, check out the Peterson/Lucas slabbers.

I've got a 72" double ended cannon bar that I'm hoping to turn into one of these this spring/summer.  - Ryan

As Ryan mentioned, depending on how thick you want to cut, a Lucas or Peterson with a slabbing bar should do a 60" log.

Here is an old thread showing a link to another slabbing mill that will do an 8' log!
