it seems ng in rumford has some cash to spend. the story is they plan to increase production by over 200%. and that there will be over 300 truck loads of paper leaving the mill every day. sounds like a lot dosent it. there old town mill should be running june 1. that will make processed pulp. and the part that dosent make sense its going by rail to newark then shipped to china. why not searsport or eastport??

Maybe it's going in containers and not bulk ship?

That would be the only reason; Newark is a huge intermodal hub.  There used to be some dedicated pulp ships going in and out of Green Bay that were pretty big.   Maybe they don't have storage for a ship load at a  time and have to use containers to keep product moving.

Using shipping containers is also about where you can get the empty containers from or whether you can have a return trip with some full containers (at  least part of way). Rail roads are one gallon of diesel can shift a ton 500 miles.

That's 12-13 trucks per hour. That is good. Wonder how many trucks will be coming in too full of wood?

if only one of the paper companies from china had bought the verso bucksport mill before it was torn down. the paper rolls could have been rolled down the hill up the gang plank into the hold of there ship. tied to there own dock
