I have a 1978 Timberjack 230E with Eaton winch. On my last run last night I could not winch in the last 30 feet of mainline. I also could not release the winch. Cable is not jammed on the reel. I am assuming the the brake is not releasing? Any ideas what is causing this? I am going to work on it today and hope to have it going for tomorrow. Hopefully something simple! Any ideas to shorten the troubleshoot would be appreciated. Thanks. Mountain.

I would check the pressure to the brake cylinder it's supposed to be around 550psi when mine did what yours is doing it was the relief

Thanks Mainlogger. I just came in from fixing it. Ended up being mainline bent around the friction adjuster on the bottom of the winch. I could not see it until I crawled under. Simple fix but put a heck of a pig tail on my mainline. I have it stretched out on a tree now to try get the twist out for tomorrow. Amazing the thing it was caught on did not break! They sure built these things to keep going! Thanks again. I will keep your cure in mind for another day. Mountain.
