Anyone run a setup like this Iv heard of the ctl logging guy run one before or someone else just looking for feedback on it as it's not a very popular combination but from the videos Iv watched of it it looks like it works well together.
Manly looking for fuel mileage, wear parts or weak points in the machine and head. And how many hours use. Planning on buying one and keeping it for the long hual. Thanks in advance

I ran a 653 with a fabtek 2000 for 17.5k on it without too many issues for 20 years.

I am unsure of what model of Tigercat 822 you are referring to. Tigercat has made a number of different 822 models from the early models with Cummins QSC 8.3 liter engine with 240 hp to the current FPT powered  822D.
TC X822D looks to have extra rear counter weight to balance the heavy disc saw. (and the higher pressure track drive)

Which Risely product are you referring to - their rotosaw - with 3 sizes listed or their Rolly 2 processor?

What machine brand dealers do you have near, that like you ?

1 stump he left over a foot high, don't think I'd use that in a promo if I were tigercat.

Eltec were making their own saw heads in this vid. Bigger track drive motors etc than TC, no wonder some Eltec machines are 320hp.

The model I'm looking at is a 822c with a rolly 2 roto saw head. I don't Believe it has the counter weight. Single grouser tracks.

Kingkodiak

The processor head not that bunched head

I know risley parts can be super expensive, one thing I'd check is which computer the machine has if it's the woodland's computer that'll vs the dasa they ran. What kind of wood, lengths will you be running through the head? How does the carrier look? Rails? Engine hours? What's been rebuilt and replaced?

Kingkodiak

Woodland computer witch is a good system. 3200 on machine brand new head. Machine was well cared for and is tight nd dry. But expensive as all tigercats are.

Are there any or machines out your way that are roughly the size? A friend of ours just bought a new D series Tigercat 870 that they can't get the hydraulics to run up fully, he also has two 830's the D had hydraulic issues, before this his first C they had to buy back with under 1000 hours, to me I'd be a little iffy on tigercat.

Kingkodiak

I already know tigercats build quality is second to none as I own a 1055b forwarder and it's built like a tank witch I like. And ease of maintenance and repairs is second better then any other manufacturer. If owned jds my hole life and there throw away machines. Tigercats are built to last.

Timberpro should know how to build a machine. Need to check the hydraulic differences between the 822C and the equivalent Timberpro.
Lifted the horsepower in the new ones to 338hp (Cummins L9 -tier4 final)

I will not own a timberpro. They are good machines but a mechanics nightmare.

I was just on a tour of tigercat's many facilities in Ontario last week.   Very impressive operation.   Almost everything built in house.

Like you said with the forwarder, they aren't afraid to put steel into things.  Pin sizes seem larger all around.   Heavy and expensive but at a high quality level.

Depending on where you are, I wonder if a ponsse head on the 822C would work?
The Rolly2 rotosaw appears to cut 18" and 21"    (do other disc diameters probably cut a larger log size?)

The weight of the rolly2 head is not written down for the various configurations separately.
Could probably bolt on a  larger rolly disc or a rolly chainbar & saw chain unit if you require a larger cut?

New Eltec would probably cost 3 times or more the cost of a used 822. Just a presentation of where the eltec designers went.
Can see on the Eltec - larger side entry cab, spare hydraulic onboard storage, fold down guards, walk round engine, space round hydraulic valve bank, rexroth track drive units versus (the bonfiglioli track drive units on the TC). Still had a non-def cummins engine.

Eltec FH277 - in some garbage wood, wouldn't like to pay back a machine with this wood.

'Shoe string ' TC 870 with Ponsse H8 seems to be processing ok
