Missed out on LT 10
« on: May 23, 2019, 09:53:19 PM »
Got to vent to a crowd who will appreciate my sadness... Missed out on a LT 10 with 2 bed extensions for $2500. On a much less exciting MS170 for $60 and a Stihl 041 for $125, all in the matter of 2 days. Hopefully the guy doesn't pick up the mill, cause I'm the backup bidder. Will know by Saturday.

The trouble with auctions is you can't really say you missed out at any price because you don't know what the others guys maximum was. I'm not even sure if it's correct to say you "missed out." Apparently you bid what you thought was a fair price and someone else bid more. In that case you lucked out.

Key to any auction (ebay, Gov.deals, GSA) is bid the max what you want to pay and wait till the last 10-15 seconds to submit the bid.  The biggest mistake is bidding days or hours in advance, if you do your just raising the price of whatever you want to buy.

Yeah I find auctions are hit or miss, all 3 of my close calls were Facebook Marketplace.
