This might be a dandy.
« on: October 27, 2018, 02:44:28 PM »
Long as it isn't full of metal. My sister says it isn't. She's tired of all the cherries staining her deck and furniture.  26" DBH black cherry. Tree service is coming next month. She's going to call me so I can have it blocked the way I want it. It should be a dandy.

I'd saw it even if it did have metal- it's a beauty. Besides, you know how it goes, Jeff- the more adamant someone is about not having metal in a tree, the more likely there will be!😂

Looks like a really nice tree. We get some like that, but most are not very straight.

That's a major advantage of a band mill you can risk cutting yard trees, ones you would not dream about putting on a circular mill. Frank C.

The tree didn't come down today. The ground was deemed to be to unstable. Sounds like they have to climb it Friday. Theyvtook the elm down and had to wait for the power company for the oak as a line was grown into a branch.

What you may not see, is that the tree is on a rather steep front yard. Soil type is sand and the lake is only 25 feet away

Got it home. Two logs was a load. Im hoping im not over my head getting them from the trailer to the mill. There is a lot of sap wood and very wide growth rings. The heart is offset from the hill it grew on, and the heart check started minutes after they fell the trunk
