J2000 Delmhorst Moisture Meter (Pictures Added)
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:59:42 PM »
I bought this unit new to support my kiln operation.  The kiln is gone, so I do not have a need for a moisture meeter that also has the 2 inch hammer probe.  This unit comes in a plastic case with extra probes and the owners manual.

sales price is $250 plus shipping.

How old is the meter? Can you post a photo? Is price negotiable?

Thanks,
Don

Hi Don,

Thanks for the interest in my meter.  The meter is about 4 years old, I bought it new.  This unit comes with the case, hammer probe with extra pins for the probe and meter.  The manual is included.  I have some photos and will get gem posted later today.  The price is about half of the cost of a new unit, which goes for $450.  I checked the price this morning (Professional Equipment), this is the company I bought the meter from.  The price is fair, so I am firm on this number.

You will be getting an piece of professional grade equipment for a very good price.  If you want to know more just ask.

Mark,

Just curious did you ever use the hammer probe? I am drying 8/4-12/4 thick lumber and need core readings. You don't by chance have kiln-mo-trol cables for in kiln readings (you drill into sample boards and leave probes in place to read lumber within the stack).

Don,

I have used the hammer probe when drying 8/4 and 10/4 material. The pins are insulated except for the last 1/4 inch of the tips.  Not sure if you are aware of this, but the reason the long pins are insulated is the readings are taken from the length of the pin.  So if the long pins were not insulated the readings would include the moisture content of the material close to surface.

I do not have the cable to sense the core of th material as the charge is drying.  Check with Den (board Moderator and owner of PC Speciality) he may know a source for the cable.

Mark,

A brand new one w/warranty shipped to my door is about $400 from forestry supplies. By the time you add shipping and ins. we will be about $100 apart for a four yr old used pc of elect equip. Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

Don,

Your estimates on shipping are way too high.  You will like which ever meter you choose.  They are great instruments to work with.
