I saw alot of Poplar, most is for barn siding. I have had a few people lately ask me if I harvest and sale the bark from the logs as siding. I have been doing some research and was wondering if anyone on here ever had any experience with poplar bark. One person even said they use it as shingles.  Thanks,

I was told the heavy/thicker bark is in demand by Carvers

i have sold poplar bark to Bark House in spruce pine nc . they want a pretty specific kind of bark you have to peel it before you skid the logs to keep from damaging it, itmust be at least 3/4" thick and not scaly[loose surface pieces].the season was very short this year because of the lack of demand i think they paid 1.50 per square foot this year but im not sure. after peeling i let the logs lay for a few days to dry so they are not so slick to handle fresh peeled ones are hard to keep on the truck and dangerous to handle   doghunter
