Anyone familiar with cancar tree farmers able to verify the model winch and model skidder or year? I'm considering taking a look at this machine. Seller says placard said c4bd... the gearmatic winch is mounted behind the cab. He thought it was hydraulic.. and sent pictures of a sprocket coming off the tcase (I presume) and a sprocket coming off the winch. Is this normal for these machines? Also the drive chain was missing. It's a ford diesel. Runs good. I'm worried about dealing with an obsolete winch. Any advice?Read More

I'm having issues with some hydraulic components on the mill. Verticle Log stops drift up when set all-the-way-down. Log turner will not turn log. Loader will not lift a medium size log and leaks down when sawed planks are placed on cradle. I'm at a loss how to remedy the problem.

I've drained the existing pump fluid, changed filter, added new fluid (Dextron ATF). This didn't help. Tried several attempts of bleeding hoses at cylinders. Issues still. Maybe pump is weak. Installed new pump motor, pump, and reservoir, added new fluid with new filter. Same issues.Read More

The Wife and I were travelling in Tennessee for the past few days and then had plans to head to Dauphin Island. On the way from Nashville down we took a small detour to meet Chip,Martha and Robert Milton at Hobby Hardwoods. We had the pleasure of getting a tour of their retail lumber store and to look at some of the 50 plus species of wood they have for sale. Martha explained the retail side of the business and Robert was kind enough to show me the manufacturing side of things. Chip was on a break in the side by side. I must admit I have never seen such fine quality of lumber and the way it is organized in their sales building. It's fantastic how this Forum can bring people together from all areas.Read More

Person contacted me off Faceb0rk asking if I could re-saw some 1" boards. Various hardwoods, 6" wide, 8' long. He wants to cover a wall w/ the wood like faux-paneling. E.g. I'm taking hardwood flooring leftovers and making veneer strips for him. OK, I see where he's going with this idea, I kinda like it!Read More
